Part 2: Ikebana Workshop: Flower Arranging with Sachi Uemoto Groves
Sunday August 3rd 2-3pm, $45.00, all levels welcome
This is part two of a two-part summer workshop series exploring the traditional Japanese art form of ikebana.
Join Sachi Uemoto Groves, a traditional ikebana practitioner for over 15 years, for an information-packed lecture, demonstration, and workshop on the basics of traditional Japanese ikebana flower arranging.
Students are welcome to bring works completed in Part I of this summer workshop series, Ikebana Vessel Making with Becky Blevins, or they can bring a pot of their choosing from home. We will also have pottery available for students to practice with during the workshop.
Instructor Bio:
Before coming to the United States from Japan, Sachi Uemoto Groves pursued her love of Japanese culture by participating in kimono fashion shows, practicing ikebana flower arranging, and cultivating her interest in the traditional tea ceremony. Now, she works to promote these iconic aspects of Japanese culture in Tennessee.
