The Buchanan Arts Emerging Artist Fellowship is a year-long work-study experience designed for recent graduates or early-career artists who wish to develop their creative practices while working to support the operations of Buchanan Arts. The goal of this program is to encourage creative development, facilitate professional opportunities, foster experimentation, and create connections that will carry participants into the next chapter of their careers. Artists of all backgrounds who wish to enhance their skill-sets and learn more about a community-based arts non-profit are encouraged to apply.

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2023-24 fellowship year.

Applications for the 2025 fellowship year will open in the Fall of 2024.

What do fellows receive?

  • Dedicated workspace and storage within the Buchanan Arts studio
  • Dedicated time to use the Buchanan Arts studio to further their creative work
  • Free and/or discounted materials 
  • Kiln firings 
  • Exhibition and sales opportunities
  • Professional development opportunities with BA staff and our neighbor Elephant Gallery - elephantgallery.com

What do fellows contribute?

  • Weekly studio maintenance support not to exceed 8hrs/week
  • Monitoring weekend Open Studio hours
  • Assist/attend selected BA workshops/events 
  • Buchanan Arts community garden support as needed

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer financial compensation or stipends for fellowship recipients at this time.
