Saturday Workshop Series: Black Walnut Natural Dye Techniques with Virginia Griswold, October 25, 1-4pm

Saturday October 25th from 1-4pm

This workshop will focus on learning natural dye and traditional shibori (dye resist) techniques using the fruits of a Tennessee native tree - the Eastern Black Walnut!

Students will also use foraged dye plants from the Buchanan Arts Community Garden) to experiment with adding depth of color, texture, and design to their fabrics. Each student will walk away with one naturally dyed medium-sized silk scarf and one organic cotton tote bag.

About Virginia:

Virginia Griswold received her MFA in Sculpture from Alfred University and BFA in Craft/Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been an arts educator and advocate for the arts for over 20 years. She currently serves as the executive director of Buchanan Arts where she works to promote access to the arts for all Nashvillians.
