The Community Arts Council is composed of a group of volunteer citizens
interested in all forms of the arts. The Arts Council was formed in 1995. The
Council's mission is to bring the arts in varied forms - music, dance, theatre, and literature - to the doorstep of all Buchanan
County citizens.
The Council's goals for programming are twofold: to include events that make the arts more accessible for children and to broaden the scope of artistic exposure in our community at large. Many of the programs offered by the Council fit both purposes and are suitable for adults and children alike.
Council members meet monthly, or as needed, to oversee the planning necessary for a successful arts program. The
Council receives funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Grundy Town Council, and the Buchanan Board of Supervisors, in addition to generous contributions from local corporate and individual citizens.
Lucy Williams Bowman serves as chairman of the group. Additional council members include Krista Cox,
Chuck Crabtree, Lu Ellsworth, Sherry Fletcher, Sandy Johnson, Rachel Maderik, Susan Mayhew, Helen Phillips,
Debbie Raines, Allison Street, and Michelle Justus Talbott.

Support the Arts Council
The Community Arts Council has a variety of avenues through which you can support the arts. A rate structure has been established
which identifies our co-sponsors, benefactors, patrons, and sustainers--all of whom are necessary to continue to successfully bring the arts to our
community.
Donations of all sizes are welcome and go back into programming which, in simple terms, means the more money we raise, the higher quality programming we
are able to offer. Donors are recognized in each event program.
The rate structure is as follows:

Season tickets are available and provide ticket holders with admission to any Arts Council event.
Season tickets are $30 for adults, $20 for college students, $15 for ages 12-18, and free for children under 12 when accompanied by a parent or supervising adult. The Arts Council
is also pleased to offer a family pass for $80 which allows admission to Arts Council events for four or more immediate family members. Season ticket holders
are also entitled to attend all Richlands Citizens for the Arts (CART) events as a benefit of a reciprocal partnership between the two area arts councils.
Since single event admission is $10 for adults, $7 for college students, and $5 for ages 12-18, season ticket holders realize a significant savings by
purchasing season tickets in advance. Tickets and season passes are available at Golden Charity Jewelers, the Street Law Firm, Mountain Perks Coffee Shop, or from any Arts Council member.
